My dad worked for Del Papa Distributing all my life. Growing up, he was the “Bud Man” on Galveston Island. One day, I got to go to work with my dad, and everyone knew him – I thought it was the coolest thing. When I was in 6th grade, I wrote an essay on why I wanted to work at Del Papa Distributing when I grew up. Today, I’m living my dream!
I was working as a Public Relations Assistant for a school district when a part-time Marketing Rep position opened at Del Papa. I applied and took the job to get my foot in the door. After about a year, I went into a full-time Sales Role. I have worked in the “on-premise” (in our bar and restaurant accounts) for over 16 years. I started as a Rep and then was promoted to Account Manager for some of our top volume accounts. Now, I work as a Sales Consultant.
My favorite thing about working here is that there are new challenges every day – no two days are the same. I love that I am always doing something different. I also love building relationships with my customers. There are some that I have been able to serve for over 10 years! In this business I have learned that you can’t predict everything, so be prepared for anything. Whether it’s a hurricane, moving locations, or the COVID-19 pandemic, we are always changing.
I’ve grown up here. Del Papa is a family business, but especially for me. Not only did my dad work here, but my brother also works here now, too! Every 5 years we are recognized together at our all-company meeting as we get to go up on stage and accept our service awards. There is something special about it that I recognized when I was a kid, and now I get to live it out every day.
