What even is a Michelada? The less familiar may assume it is simply beer mixed with tomato juice. Other brunch-goers may name it a “Bloody Mary with beer” rather than with Vodka. Regardless it has been adopted as the original and true beer cocktail.
Originating in Mexico, we learn more about the drink by breaking down the syllables of its name: Mi (“mine”) Chela (“Beer”) Helada (“cold”). Put it together and you get, “My cold beer.” The Mexican original has gained popularity offering a refreshing cocktail option suitable for any time of day. It has even been said to be a cure for a hangover. Regardless, it is delicious and will elevate your dining or hosting experience to a whole new level.
When it comes to ordering or serving a traditional Michelada, most restaurants or bartenders will allow you to choose the beer that will accompany your tomato cocktail. And when it comes to choosing the one that is the best compliment, look no further than Modelo.
